Prior to being the founding Director of CGB Consulting, Jai Basrur's past positions have included: Partner, Ernst & Young, New Zealand; Regional Director, Corporate Finance, Stern Stewart & Co, South East Asia; and Director, Corporate Finance, Horwath Porter Wigglesworth, New Zealand.

Jai has advised and worked with a large number of reputed listed and unlisted corporate and government entities over the past thirty five years. He has worked and advised at corporate board and senior leadership levels in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, India, South East Asia and the Middle East.

Jai has advised on a variety of valuation, applied corporate finance, financial and corporate strategy, value and performance management and litigation matters. He has provided financial expert evidence and litigation support in commercial disputes and relationship property matters in the District, Family and High Courts as well as in Alternative Dispute Resolution forums.

As an independent expert Jai has been asked to provide advice on business, share and intangible asset valuation, loss quantification, competition law and regulatory pricing matters. Jai has prepared a number of appraisal and independent adviser reports and fairness opinions. He advises extensively on financial valuation aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions and intellectual property commercialisation. 

Jai's clients include organisations in the following sectors: dairy, meat processing, telecommunications, infrastructure (including ports, airports, gas and electricity), software, financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology, medical software, biotechnology, and integrated medical practices. His experience with state-owned enterprises and family managed and owned businesses extends over the past 20 years. Jai also works regularly with, and alongside, other advisory organisations and litigation specialists on transactions and in litigation matters.

Jai is frequently requested to present on valuation and corporate finance and performance management matters. He has presented at seminars, conferences and business schools in New Zealand and abroad. Presentations include a recent valuation seminar to the Auckland District Law Society, presentations on valuing intellectual property and intangible assets as well as seminars to the University of Auckland Business School, the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and Management Institutes in Singapore.
